"I Have Hidden Your Word In My Heart That I Might Not Sin Against You" Psalm 119:11

Lord, as I continue this study, I am getting a more complete idea of your love for me, and I thank you for giving me that knowledge.

Prayer Requests For Today:

For me, to continue to increase my faith

For my friend Kat, who broke her foot a couple days ago, and is in pain and discomfort.

This weekend, I was watching a news program on TV, and it had a segment about a church in Lousiana that had been destroyed by the hurricane, and its members were holding Sunday Services in its ruins. In his sermon, the Pastor made a comment that really stood out. he said sometimes God strips us of everything we have to make us realize what really matters in life, and to increase our faith and the realization that we have to place our trust in him and no one/ thing else! I agree with that 100%!

It's wild (but not surprising) that you say that. Our serman was about the same thing indirectly.

When the Lord sent His people to scout out Jericho, His spies hooked up with Rahab, the town hooker. She hid them from the soldiers and even LIED for them in trade for her safety when the Lord would deliver the city into their hands.

Rahab lived in the WALL of the city. She held her end of the agreement by hanging a red velvet cord out of her window and bringing all of her family (Father, Mother, sisters, brothers, and all of their families) into her tiny apartment to wait.

After God's people marched around the city six times and then blew the trumpet, the city walls fell! Do you think that Rahab's apartment stayed in tact? No, it did NOT. The ceiling fell in on her and the floors fell out from under her and they ALL came tumbling down!

The order was given to kill everyone in the city, men, women, children, and even the animals. But Rahab's family (who all survived) were to be escorted out of the city to safety. They were NOT to join the Israelite camp, but to go elsewhere.

Rahab TRUSTED in God to deliver her from death, and He did that. But she got out of it with nothing but her life and the lives of her family.

Guess what happened later? If you read Matthew 1 you will see a geneology list of the decendants of Jesus and find Boaz. Boaz married Rahab! Rahab was Jesus'great, great, great-something GRANDMA! How's that for a legacy!
